3 release postponed to April?

Earlier there were reports that Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya Dhanush's debut directorial venture 3, which has Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, will hit screens in the first week of February. But due to Producers Council new set of norms, which says that big films can be released only during five days a years, the makers of 3 have now decided to postpone the film to April. According o latest update, 3 will hit screens for Tamil New Year.

All eyes are on the Kolaveri song to see how Dhanush and team has shot the cult song which created a global impact.The film is an emotional love story which will be different and catchy. In the film Dhanush will appear as Ram and Shruti Haasan plays the role of Janani. Debutant Anirudh is the music director.

After his sleeper hit Mouna Guru, Arulnidhi is going places. Now the actor has signed a project with Karu Pazhaniappan (of Parthiban Kanavu fame) which is likely to go on floors in March. The young actor has been getting lots of offers from top director after his recent release Mouna Guru, which was a winner at the box office due to its interesting storyline and racy screenplay.

Mouna Guru is produced by Arulnidhi's father Tamilarasu under their home banner Mohana Movies and directed by debutant Shantakumar.

The bride-to-be actress Genelia will tie the knot with her co-actor and long-time beau Riteish Deshmukh next month. Besides, their film, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is also releasing in February.

Talking about her fiancé, Genelia said: "I like the way Riteish is. He is a simple man at heart and a really spontaneous actor. Whenever he compered any award functions, I always thought that the gags were in the script, but now that I know him, I have realised that the gags are spur of the moment improvisations."

"We have been friends for a long time now. Love happened gradually. It was not realised in a day or two. We think our friendship went a little ahead and now we have decided to get married,” Genelia further said.

Gautham Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham: More updates

Another Southern hottie Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to enter into Hindi cinema with Aditya Roy Kapur as her co-star.

Remember Aditya Roy Kapur? UTV's Siddharth and Delhi Belly actor Kunal Roy Kapur's curly-haired kid-brother made quite an impression with his two films Action Replayy and Guzaarish in 2010. Thereafter, he vanished almost to the point of non-existence, not answering messages or phone calls.

It now turns out that the chuppa rustom Kapur has actually been busy in the South shooting for a Tamil-Telugu-Hindi tri-lingual being directed by Gautham Menon, in the news for his new Hindi film Ekk Deewana Tha.

Gautham apparently has shot almost the entire film already. When asked about the project, the prolific Tamil-Telugu-Hindi director admitted, "Yes, I am working with Aditya Roy Kapur in a film that I am making in three languages Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The Hindi version with Aditya is called Assi Nabey Poore Sau."

While Roy Kapoor plays the lead in the Hindi version of this adventure-comedy-drama, Tamil superstar Jiiva and the Telugu star Nani play the lead in the other two versions of the film.

Interesting, Samantha whom Gautham Menon introduced in Tamil film in 2010 stars in all three versions of the film.

Says Menon, "I already have three different heroes in three different languages to deal with. In addition, three heroines would've been impossible to handle. So Samantha stars in all three languages."

The director says shooting a tri-lingual is like making three different films. "I do one shot with Aditya and then the same shot with Jiiva and Nani. We go through every shot three times over in exactly the same way. I've never done a film simultaneously in three languages."

About Aditya Roy Kapoor, Menon says, "I spotted him on the location for Vipul Shah's Action Replay. I immediately knew he was right for Assi Nabey Poore Sau."

Interestingly, the Roy boy has made headway on his own. Though his Bade Bhaiyya is the head honcho at UTV, it has been made clear to the ladla sibling that his corporate connections in Bollywood aren't going to get him roles.

Adds Gautham Menon, "At the moment my full focus is on the release of Ek Deewana Tha. It's simple old fashioned love story."

Kamal Haasan wants Shahrukh Khan for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu remake

Shahrukh Khan is in a dilemma. He has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil remakes, A R Murogadoss' Ramanna and Gautham Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Both offer the picky superstar Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before. A South Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before.

Says a source, "While Murugadoss' film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4 and that too a plain-clothed cop. SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do."

Indeed, Gautham Menon informs that Shahrukh is the only choice for the Hindi remake of Vettaiyaadi Vilaiyaadi. Contrary to reports, Salman Khan is not up for consideration for the Hindi adaptation of the Gautham Menon's 2006 Tamil hit Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. It's Shahrukh Khan all the way. Apparently, the mighty Kamal Haasan who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in Tamil original, has expressed a keen interest in Shahrukh playing the role in the film's Hindi version.

Says a source close to the project, "Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh. They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji's Hey Ram free of cost. When director Gautham Menon who understandably respects Kamalji's opinion asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shahrukh's name."

So Shahrukh it is. Menon confirms this. Says the softspoken director, "I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu are coming from. It's Shahrukh Khan who's the first and only choice. Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shahrukh seems the right candidate for the part."

Kamal Haasan says, "Yes someone like Shahrukh would be right for the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu remake."

Interestingly, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu would explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan's Talaash.

A source close to the project tells us that the only reason Shahrukh has not given a final nod to Gautham Menon's remake is because he wants to see how Talaash is received by the audience.

Soniya Agarwal's comeback film Oru Nadigayin Vakkumoolam cleared the censors with an U/A certificate recently. The film narrates the life story of an actress and reportedly Soniya Agarwal will appear in four different looks. The film is directed by Rajakrishna and Aadhisha has composed the music. RJ-producer Punnagai Poo Geetha has funded this film which is likely to hit screens soon. Soniya's four different looks are already the talk of the town.

Billa 2 on Ajith's birthday?

The release of Ajith's much awaited Billa 2 has been postponed to May due to the new norms from Producers Council which states that big films can be released only during five days a year. According to the new schedule, Billa 2 will now hit screens on Ajith's birthday (May Day).

This prequel is produced under the banner of Wide Angle Creations (led by George Pious and Suresh Balaje) and presented by Mumbai based Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group. Bollywood star Vidyut Jammwal, Sudhanshu Pandey, Bruna Abdullah and Malayalam actor Manoj K. Jayan will play prominent roles in this film, made with a whopping budget of Rs. 35 crores. Billa 2's technical team includes cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvanshankar Raja.

The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) called for an urgent meeting to discuss about the recent resolution passed by the South Indian Film Employees Union recently. The South Indian Film Employees Union recently announced new wage structure without the consent of the Producers Council. Following this the producers' council expressed its shock over the announcement of minimum wage and termed it as "unilateral decision." The council also decided to suspend all shooting operations on Monday (Jan 23).

Now the Producers Council has decided to employ anyone of their choice to work for a film. They also added that a new technician association will be created for such employees. According to sources the decision of Producers Council has irked FEFSI and they are expected to announce their next step soon.

Nayantara signs new film

Happy news for all Nayantara fans, who were anxiously waiting for the final decision from the actress whether she would quit acting post marriage!

Nayantara, who became the most sought after actress in Tollywood after the success of Sri Rama Rajyam, has signed a film after much persuasion from the producers and directors. She has finally okayed a romantic entertainer to be directed by Dasarath with Nagarjuna in the lead.

Notably, Prabhu Deva is a good friend of Dasarath, ever since he played a key role in the director's maiden film Santosham. Nayantara earlier acted with Nagarjuna in Boss I Love You.

The proposed film, produced by D. Shiva Prasad Reddy under the banner of Kamakshi Movies, is expected to go to the sets in May. Devi Sri Prasad will score the music.

Viswaroopam: A 100 crore affair

And that makes Viswaroopam the biggest film in Kamal's career till date! Reportedly the film, produced jointly by Rajkamal International and PVP Cinemas, is made with a whopping budget of 100 crores. According to sources, Kamal Haasan will play the role of a terrorist and the film is rumoured to be a spy thriller on the lines of Mission Impossible series. The shooting of the film is almost complete except the climax sequence which will be shot in Delhi soon.

Kamal has also performed a Kathak number choreographed by well-known kathak dancer Pt. Birju Maharaj. Rahul Bose plays the villian while Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Isha Sharvani will also be seen in prominent roles. There are also reports that renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will make a special appearance in this flick which being is made simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi.

Kamal Haasan's take on corruption

We all know that Kamal Haasan is busy with his big budget bilingual Viswaroopam, but here we bring you another interesting story. After completing Viswaroopam, Kamal is likely to start his next project Amar Hain, a Tamil-Hindi bilingual, immediately. Interesting the veteran actor will direct and play the lead role in this film too.

It is said that the Manmadhan Ambu actor completed the script of Amar Hain two years ago and film will take a dispassionate look at the legitimization of corruption in present-day India. Atul Tiwari, who has penned the dialogues for the Hindi version of Viswaroopam, will do the dialouges of Amar Hain. The Tamil title and the rest of the star cast is yet to be finalised.

Dhanush ready for Bollywood entry

And finally after much hype and speculations, Dhanush signed his first Hindi film recently. The film, titled as Raanjhnaa will be directed by Aanand L. Rai (of Tanu Weds Manu fame). Interestingly the directed was impressed with Dhanush's performance in Aadukalam (for which he won a National award) and decided to sign him. The film will be set in the backdrops of Banaras and Dhanush is planning to learn Hindi soon. More details on the cast and crew are expected soon.

Meanwhile Dhanush is currently awaiting the release of 3, directed by wife Aishwarya.

Siddharth's Kollywood flick Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi (How To Mess Up In Love) is ready and is likely to grace theatres on February 17, 2012.

The film, which is simultaneously made in Telugu as Love Failure, is directed by debutante Balaji and Thaman has composed the music. Starring Amala Paul as the heroine, the film is jointly produced by Nirav Shah and Sashikanth. The film is said to be an unusual love story between two contrasting characters.

Ambuli 3D in mid February?

Director duo Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan, who made an impressive start in Kollywood with the innovative supernatural thriller of Orr Iravu fame, is ready with the 3D flick, Ambuli 3D. The film is likely to grace theatres mid February.

Interestingly Ambuli 3D is made in stereoscopic format, making it the first 3D film in Tamil. Set in the backdrop of a remote village (during the 1970s), the film narrates the story of some supernatural happenings that have been taking place around the village for ages.

Music is composed by Venkat Prabhu Shankar. Veteran actor Parthiban will make a powerful cameo appearance in this flick.

Producers Council cancel shoots

After introducing new sets of norms in Kollywood which includes the restriction of release of big films per year, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has called for an urgent general council meeting to discuss the pay revision of employees on Saturday. In a statement, the producers' council expressed its shock over the announced a minimum wage by FEFSI and termed it as "unilateral decision." Following this the council decided to suspend all shooting operations today (Jan 23). "The wage scale has not been jointly decided by TFPC and FEFSI. The decision to suspend all shooting operations will help members to participate in the general council on January 23," the press release stated.

Recently a section of the media speculated that pretty lass Richa Gangopadhyay, who became an overnight sensation in Telugu and Tamil, will do an item number in Prabhu Deva's Rowdy Rathore, Hindi remake of Vikramarkudu (which was also remade in Tamil as Siruthai). But the Mayakkam Enna actress has denied such reports and clarified that she has never met Prabhu Deva till date. She also revealed that she is currently busy with the Bengali remake of Vikramarkudu in which she is paired opposite Prosenjith.

Richa also said that at point of her career she will rather do roles that are balance with galmour instead of an item number.

If reports are to be believed, popular Tamil actor Sarathkumar's daughter Varalaxmi , who will make her acting debut with Simbu starrer Podaa Podi, will be part of young Tollywood hero Naga Chaitanya's new film Gouravam to be directed by Radha Mohan.

The official announcement is expected to be made during the movie launch to be held shortly in Hyderabad. Notably, this is Varalaxmi’s maiden film in Telugu. Touted to be a family entertainer, this film will be made Telugu and Tamil. Thaman will score the music. More details are awaited.

Mani Ratnam fans across the globe are excited as the ace director is back with a bang. His next project will be a straight Tamil film which will have Karthik's son Gautham in lead role. The film is an intense love story based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy.

Recently there were reports that STR is trying to rope in pop siren Shakira in his new album 'Love for world peace'. Some reports even claimed that the pop icon may croon a song in Simbu's forthcoming film Podaa Podi. But now it looks like all these news are mere rumors. Simbu has denied all these reports now. "We will officially let you know if some thing is happening around. Shakira is not in Podaa Podi and we haven't confirmed any. The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Ajith's Billa 2 team has approached American rapper Pitbull to sing a song in the film.First it was Akon in Murugadoss' Thuppakki now Pitbull.

The film is in final stages and is likely to grace theatres in April 2012. Rajsekhar is the cinematographer. Brazilian-Arab model Bruna Abdullah amd former Miss India Paravathy Omanakuttan are the leading ladies in the film. Vidyut Jamwal, who made his debut in John Abraham's Force, is the villain. The film, directed by Chakri Toleti, is a prequel to Billa and will narrate the story of David, a common man who latter becomes the world's most notorious don.

If the reports are to be believed, leading choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva will soon direct young superstar Ram Charan Teja.

Reports said that the director narrated a script to Ram Charan Teja a year ago, but the actor did not give a green signal to the project.

Recently, Prabhu Deva approached him with the same script but with a few changes and this time, the actor agreed to do the project. More details are awaited.

Madrasapattinam fame Amy Jackson will play one of the two heroines opposite young Telugu superstar Ram Charan Tej in Yevadu, directed by Vamsi Paidipalli. Samantha is the other heroine.

"Amy and Samantha have been confirmed to play the female leads and we'll start shooting from February 13," producer Dil Raju said.

This is Amy Jackson's debut Telugu film. After Madrasapattinam, she signed Ekk Deewana Tha (Hindi) and Thaandavam (Tamil), which are under production.

The trailer of Karthi's Saguni, directed by Sankar Dayal (a former associate to Ezhil and S.D. Saba) has already created the much needed buzz in the industry. From the trailer it is clear that Karthi will play the role of Kamal, a street-smart cookie who, through his crooked yet intelligent moves, becomes the Chief Minister of a state. The film is produced by Dream Warriors and music director G.V. Prakash will compose its tunes. P.C. Muthiah will be the cinematographer while Sreekaran Prasad is the editor. Rajeevan will take care of the art department.

After Siruthai, Karthi is teaming up with Santhanam again in Saguni and their chemistry is one of the major highlight of the film. Kannada actress Pranitha plays the leading lady.

Galatta's special show for Vettai contest winners!

And yes we did it! Galatta.com organised a special show for Vettai contest winner at a well known preview theatre in Chennai on Friday. Need we say more. We are overwhelmed with the response that we have got for this special contest in our Facebook page.

Vettai, directed by Lingusamy, has Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in lead roles. The film, produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Thiirupathi Brothers, graced theatres on Pongal!
